Before Ostara comes upon us, many Asatru and Heathens, or at least those who focus on the Anglo-Saxon side of things, honor especially in March the Goddess Hreðe (also known as Rheda or Hretha).
Very little is known about this Goddess. From the historical record our knowledge comes to us wholly from the Venerable Bede, who had very little information that he shared with us about her in his De Temporum Ratione. All we know from Bede is that Hrethmonath [somewhat analogous to our month of March] is named for the Goddess Hretha, to whom the Anglo-Saxons sacrificed or made offerings to Her at this time.
